Severiano Ballesteros lived from 9th April 1957 to 7th May 2011.
He was bor in Pedreña (Cantabria) a small village near Santander.
At the age of 10 he took part in his first caddies tournament.
Ballesteros won five major championships between 1979 and 1988, the Open Championship three times, and the Masters Tournament twice. He was also successful in the Ryder Cup, helping the European team to five wins both as a player and captain, and won the World Match Play Championship a record-tying five times.
In October, 2008, The Times, the most important and prestigious newspaper in GB,
selected Seve as the first one in a list of athletes who has changed our point of view about sports.
